OUR PRODUCTS
At Morton Flooring, our goal is not to pressure you into a decision about the type of flooring you want. Our goal is to give you all the information you need to make the wisest decision for your family or business. Below, we have the four main types of flooring that we offer along with some advantages of each flooring type. When you give us a call at (205)680-3156, we can set up a no-cost, no-hassle consultation to go over all the benefits and drawbacks of each type of flooring.
Carpeting
We offer a wide variety of colors and styles of carpet along with a wide variety of padding (that goes underneath the carpet) to match your home or business needs.
There are several distinct advantages to carpet as a flooring choice:
Warmth and comfort. In colder weather, carpet is going to stay warmer because it delivers greater “thermal resistance.” That’s a fancy way of saying that it holds in heat better than other materials. In addition to feeling warmer on your feet (in a residential setting), carpet is just more comfortable to walk on. This is why carpet can be a great choice for bedrooms, kids’ rooms or where you want to promote relaxation.
Safety for children and the elderly. Because carpet is softer and more comfortable to walk on, it is also safer in case of possible falling accidents.
Noise-cancelling. Carpets (and the padding underneath) help cancel noise in rooms. Also, in two-story buildings, carpets can help insulate and cancel the noise from footsteps on the top floor.
Economical. Many types of carpets we offer are going to have cheaper material and installation costs.
Hardwoods
Hardwoods have the distinction of giving your home a high-end look and a special aesthetic.
There are also some distinct advantages to this type of flooring.
Clean and allergy-resistant. One of the greatest advantages of a hardwood floor is a hard surface lets you wipe away spills and sweep away dust. Nothing is getting trapped in the fibers on the floor. If you suffer from allergies, easily getting rid of dander and dust is critical to good health.
Floors made to last. With the right care and the right choice of materials, hardwood flooring can last for decades. The initial higher-cost of materials can be justified since these floors are going to last and pay back your initial investment over time. Hardwoods can be refinished if they get damaged, increasing the overall lifespan of the floor.
Laminates
Laminate wood flooring in most cases is made from composite wood pressed together at high materials. It’s a great option if you are looking for the hardwood look at a more reasonable price-point.
Like the hardwood flooring option, laminates are also easy-to-clean and are allergy resistant.
They provide a strong, scratch-resistant, moisture-resistant surface that can handle spills and mopping.
Luxury Vinyl Tile
Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) is made up of several layers. It has a polyurethane coating, a clear layer known as a “wear layer,” a vinyl core and a tile backing.
Like hardwoods and laminates, this hard-surface flooring option is going to give you the easy-to-clean, allergy-resistant surface you want.
Two big benefits though: LVT is most completely waterproof and highly scratch resistant. If you have kids, pets high-traffic areas or areas where you expect more moisture (like bathrooms, laundry rooms, or basements), this flooring type can be a great option for you.
